What we process
OpenBT follows a minimal-processing principle. To respond to requests, protect security, diagnose failures, and measure service quality, the system processes search and filter content submitted by the browser, plus necessary access and operational information.
Access and operational records
- Service information such as request time, path, response status, and processing duration.
- A Request ID used to correlate one request and diagnose errors.
- Network and client information normally sent by the browser and required by infrastructure for secure operation.
Search terms, Infohashes, and Request IDs are not designed as long-term user-profile labels.
Long-lived browser ID and accounts
The site stores a product-specific browser ID in a cookie for up to 365 days and renews that period during eligible visits. It distinguishes browser installations; it is not proof of identity and is not a unique identifier for a person.
- After registration or login, the browser ID may be associated with one or more accounts for security, abuse prevention, and future recommendation features.
- Clearing site cookies creates a new browser ID. Signing out does not remove it.
- Page-view events are not written to the account database in this release; access records are handled through the separate operational logging path.
Local preferences
Appearance preferences such as light, dark, or system mode may be stored in browser local storage to restore the selection on later visits. Clearing site data removes them.
Use of information
Necessary information is used only to provide search, maintain security and stability, diagnose errors, meet legal obligations, and process rights requests. Selling personal information is not our business model.
Retention and security
Operational records are retained for security and operations needs. Access controls, log rotation, and least privilege reduce risk. Internet services cannot guarantee absolute security, so do not submit passwords, identity numbers, or similar sensitive information in search fields.
